The goal of our events is to help students get to know the city and it's surroundings.
Also we want to bring them together to find new friends and get to know other cultures, for this we organize different events like parties, trips, sports events and many more.
We published the event with this description:
Dear TUMi hikers, this time we are going to climb the Wendelstein!
This striking mountain is 1838 m high and has an imposing silhouette that can be recognized from as far away as Munich. From the top station terrace, a nice view from the Central Alps or the Leitzachtal can be enjoyed while we spoon a goulash soup or sip a well-deserved Weißbier or maybe a Radler at the Wendelsteinhaus. At this level is located also the highest German church, a bit closer to heaven 😇
About a hundred meters higher, the real peak waits for us with even nicer panoramic views.
Also, the well-equipded mountain counts with a radio transmission station, a cable car, a cogged wheel railway, an important astronomical observatory, and a weather station.
Some hike information:
1000 m of elevation gain;
15 km in length;
1838 m max elevation;
The paths at the mountain are well secured and not too steep. Still, this is not an easy hike due to the elevation gain and distance.
This hike, regarding length, is shorter than the recent hikes to Leutaschklamm and Wank, but longer than that to Jochberg. About the elevation gain, this one is more demanding than those to Leutaschklamm and Jochberg, but lighter than the hike to Wank.
Attention: This hike is medium-severe, a head for heights and appropriate shoes are required!
Packlist:
Sufficient water (~2 L)
Food for a picnic or cash for the hut
A good mood!
In case of too bad weather, the event might be canceled on short notice (we would inform you via email).
