The aim of the activity was to encourage Erasmus students in helping the local community through the donation of food to needy families. In this way they could also understand better the importance of avoiding food waste and doing responsible shopping.
In occasion of the Social Inclusion Days ESN Urbino organized a food drive to help who is going thorough a period of financial difficulties. We collected the food and donated it to a local charity, Caritas, that helps local needy people.
We asked Erasmus students to donate some long-life food (for example: Oil, Salt, Flour, Sugar, Pasta, Rice, Legumes, Biscuits, Canned fish, Tomato pulp or sauce, Jam, Honey, Nutella or similar, Long-life milk, Tea, Coffee). The donation was voluntary, but we encouraged Erasmus students to join to help needy families.
The collection was organized in a local pub during the period of the event. We left a box for three days (15th April, 17th April and 20th April) and the Erasmus students were free to donate when they preferred. Due to current Covid-19 regulations we couldn't meet in person, but we asked them to send us a picture of them donating.
We collected the food and donated it to the local Caritas.
