Goal of the Activity

This event was part of the project “Be a changemaker for a European sustainable campus”, in collaboration with EDISU Piemonte and CROUS Versailles. The project was co-funded by the European Union in the framework of Erasmus+ and it aims at promoting the concept of sustainability among university students. Through this project we wanted to support the capacity-building of partnership’s staff as well as facilitating a mutual learning opportunity on a transnational level among young people. Specifically, this activity was aimed to raise awareness on food waste and on the carbon footprint of what we eat everyday, in order to promote more conscious choices related to nutrition.

Description

This engaging conference brought together activists and academics to discuss the pressing intersection of dietary habits and environmental sustainability. The event featured insightful talks on the importance of adopting environmentally conscious diets, shedding light on the often-overlooked climate impacts of food choices. Speakers emphasized the need to combat food waste and shared actionable strategies to minimize it. A central focus was on the role of institutional dining, particularly university cafeterias, in leading the way toward sustainable practices. The discussions offered an intercultural exchange among speakers and participants, giving inspiration and practical solutions for a greener future.
