Goal of the Activity

The goal of the Green Carpet event is to unite in a joint effort to protect the natural environment, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability. This event aims to raise awareness about the impact of litter on natural spaces by clean-up, promote sustainable habits through a zero-waste picnic, and strengthen community bonds by bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, the event seeks to demonstrate that collaborative actions, regardless of location or nationality, can significantly impact environmental conservation. Through activities such as clean-up drives, games, and bicycle rentals, the Green Carpet event aspires to inspire ongoing commitment to creating a cleaner and greener world, highlighting the importance of both individual and collective actions in achieving environmental sustainability.

Description

This event, taking place simultaneously in both Italy and Turkey as a collaboration between 2hands Macerata and ESN Ankara University, demonstrates that regardless of our location or nationality, we can unite to protect our environment. The statistics on the amount of trash collected highlight the significant impact our efforts have on nature and the environment. By uniting, we have seen that even with minimal effort, our collective impact on the world can be substantial. The Green Carpet event aims to inspire a global effort towards creating a cleaner and greener world, emphasizing the importance of both individual and community actions in achieving environmental sustainability.

Participants donned gloves and started collecting trash from the lakeside and forest. The trash primarily consisted of cigarette butts, water bottles, alcoholic beverage bottles, and plastic bags. During the event, curious onlookers around the lake asked questions and congratulated the participants. By the end, 20 kg of trash is collected. After the clean-up, everyone enjoyed a zero-waste picnic and appreciated the beauty of the lake and its natural surroundings.

The Green Carpet event aims to unite community members in a collaborative effort to protect and celebrate our natural environment, directly contributing to environmental sustainability goals. By participating in a clean-up activity at Eymir Lake, attendees will gain firsthand experience of the detrimental impact of litter on natural spaces, fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to environmental responsibility. The zero-waste picnic encourages sustainable habits by promoting the use of reusable containers and utensils, offering practical demonstrations of waste reduction in daily life. This event serves as a platform for individuals from diverse backgrounds to unite over a shared goal of environmental conservation, strengthening community bonds and fostering a sense of collective responsibility. By offering activities such as games and bicycle rentals, the event promotes the enjoyment of outdoor spaces, encouraging participants to appreciate nature's beauty and understand its value. In essence, the Green Carpet event is about demonstrating the power of collective action in achieving significant environmental impact. By bringing people together from different parts of the world, the event underscores the universal importance of environmental conservation and the powerful results that can be achieved when communities unite for a common cause.
