The activity was organized as a free open air drawing lesson done in the most relevant places of Rimini. Esners walked erasmus and international students through the main monuments. At each stop erasmus were asked to draw the monument in front of them,
the urban landscape, the old bricks of the Arco di Augusto, the white marble of the Duomo, the reflection of the Ponte di Tiberio over the water.
The event was open to everyone, different skill level did not matter because esners gave small drawing lessons and tips to everybody, in fact the goal of the event was to create skills and to empower erasmus students (hidden or not) drawing talent.
The day before Esners prepared a small booklet entirely handmade and bought all the necessary tools to draw with (Pencil, pen and some colors). On Sunday the 13th of November afternoon they all gathered with erasmus students at the Arch of Augustus and started the "Walk N' Draw".
First lesson was about to learn how to draw from reality, and not from memory; thinking about the overall silhouettes of the object that they were drawing.
The group moved to the Sismondo Castle where they learnt basic perspective rules and how to break the image of the subject in primal shapes, in order to have a better understanding of its components.
For the third lesson they went to the Tiberio Bridge and erasmus were asked to focus not anymore on details but on the complete image trying to add foreground, middle ground and background elements.
They all shared their work to receive specific suggestions about their own drawing.
The last stop was something different, they were asked to draw the Fellini's Rhino statue in the city center. Trying to draw a complex subject as an animal, challenge them to remember all the lessons learned during the day.
To end the day the group went to a bar for an aperitivo and erasmus started to portrait each other, and then to draw little sketches or write an inscription on each other sketchbook. The day was memorable.
