The purpose of the activity is to train local Board members or aspiring local Board members in order to give them more tools to manage their own Section. This purpose is pursued through more specific objectives represented by the various thematic areas in which participants are trained, as can be seen from the agenda itself the training was developed along three lines: medium and long term planning, event organisation and knowledge transfer, chosen precisely to work on the profiles of greatest interest and usefulness to our network. The purpose of the school is also to fill a training gap originated by two years of Covid-19 pandemic by teaching our volunteers the importance of learning from the past and also to pass on to new ones what they have learned.
This event represents the training activity at the end of the annual cycle developed by ESN Italy. Specifically and thanks to the support of the OC of the Section of ESN Napoli, the activity took place from the 21st to 23rd of January in the fantastic setting of Naples and in the halls of the conference center of one of the most prestigious Italian and European universities: the University of Naples Federico II.
The training was divided into three days during which there were a total of 26 sessions, diversified by topic, mode of execution, number of participants. The choice of the sessions responds to a need to ensure all participants the opportunity to follow a session of their taste and interest, all linked by a common thread of the topics addressed and with moments of plenary on topics of general interest.
It was also planned the participation of international trainers, so as to allow our volunteers to participate in activities in a language other than their native one and to see a different style of approach to training than the one they usually experience in their own context.
The event also saw the holding of an institutional opening moment which was attended by the International Office of the University Federico II represented by Marta Maciocia, Europe Direct represented by Francesco Lombardo, ELSA (European Law Students' Association) Naples represented by Anna Maria de Franciscis and whose topic of discussion was that of CoFoE and in particular of youth activism and volunteering in a perspective of change, growth, development and dissemination of the values on which the European Union is based.
Obviously, the team building, game and relaxation side is of particular importance and therefore, in addition to the due and proper coffee breaks, we worked on the creation of a timing that would allow the full enjoyment of each session with a buffer of time without rushing between the various movements. The evening was characterized by two very interesting social programs offered by the volunteers of ESN Napoli; that is, a night city tour of their fantastic city and a treasure hunt in which all participants took part.
Last but not least, special attention was paid to the compliance with Covid-19 regulations, to the distances, to the management of flows and gatherings, to the use and control on the use of personal protective equipment that ensured the development of an event in complete safety and without risks for our volunteers.
