Goal of the Activity

After our winter term vacation we wanted to welcome our new incomings and get to know each other better. In addition, we wanted to integrate them in the local community. At the beginning of our semester we thus did a welcome event via zoom, where we played games to get to know each other better. Furthermore, we wanted to promote our other events, which are taking place during the welcome week.

Description

Firstly, the president of ESN Augsburg presented shortly our ESN section and what we have planned for this semester in these difficult times. Then we decided, due to the size of the group, to split the call in multiple breakout sessions with two to three people. In the first three rounds we played "speedfriending" and provided everyone with a "Ice Breaker Question" sheet in order to give them an inspiration about which topics you could talk. Afterwards we created new breakout sessions and asked the people to imagine 2 lies and 1 truth. Then they were asked to tell them in the group and let the others guess what might be the lie or the truth. After two rounds of this game (each round in a different brekaout session), we conducted a survey about how we should continue in order to see which game would be interesting. As there was no absolutely clear answer, we created multiple breakout sessions with different titles and the attendees were able to choose which session they wanted to join (pictionary, would you rather, a German speaking breakout session and multiple speedfriending rounds).
