The goal of the activity was to share the experience of a traditional Finnish Sitsit with our local internationals on the occasion of Halloween. This also gave mebers of our team and other "back-comers" from Finland to reexperience a part of their exchange.
A Sitsit is a Finnsih academic dinner party, where a three course meal is served accompanied by some drinks and a lot of singing. The event is lead by two toasmasters that guide through the evening, start some of the songs, lead the games and make sure, certain rules of respect towards the speakers are followed. The songs come from a songbook that was created for this event with many typical songs from finnish Sitsits with creative texts, but also German and international Pop and Rock songs. The theme of this Sitsit was Halloween, so people were asked to come dressed accordingly and the room was decorated with pumpkins from a previous pumpkin carving event. The served food was German, Finnish and halloween themed to reflect all the influences on this event (Pretzels with Spundekäs', Finnish Fish Soup, Spooky Jellow). It was prepared/cooked by the team.
