Goal of the Activity

The main goal of the project is to familiarize students from secondary schools with Europe and international mobility, fostering a cultural exchange based on values such as respect, co-existence and tolerance. Organising an Erasmus in Schools will bring an international exchange student into your classroom, where the international exchange students can do a wide range of activities that include country presentations, cultural workshops or language sessions with local students.

Description

The event was hosted in a Dutch high school, CSG Augustinus, and there were:

 Origami workshop

In this workshop, we give students an introduction to Origami. Where does it come from and what is the history behind it? Then we will try folding some origami ourselves. "Join us to dive into the world of Origami! Join us for a fun-filled workshop where you'll uncover the secrets behind this ancient art, explore its cool history, and create your own fantastic paper creations. 🌟🎨

Cultural Exchange presentation

The set up will be similar to the one from “the college tour”. We are planning an interactive workshop/interview setting, where a dutch student will interview two international students on their experiences, background, and “dutch culture shocks”. We plan to engage with the students by incorporating them into the interview and offer them a place to ask questions.

“We're setting the stage for an interactive conversation where a Dutch student will chat with two international students about their exciting journeys, backgrounds, and the 'Dutch culture shock' moments they’ve experienced. Get ready to be part of the conversation and dive into a world of what it is like to be an international in the Netherlands!" 🌍🗣️🤩”

Music workshop

"Discover the Beat: Dive into Music Culture! 🎵 Join our interactive workshop where you'll immerse yourself in the vibrant world of music. Explore diverse musical traditions, rhythms, and instruments. Experience the joy of playing different instruments or harmonising in a cappella sessions. Let's make music culture come alive together!"

Bollywood Dance workshop
Join us in dancing on the tunes of Bollywood music! In this workshop, we will introduce students to a new traditional dance and teach a fun choreography that we will all learn and perform together. Bring your energy on the dance floor!

Henna workshop

Are you fascinated by the beautiful hand artwork from India?
Then this workshop is for you! In the Henna workshop, we will give a short introduction on how to apply Henna and then you will have the opportunity to create beautiful designs! There will be a small prize for the best design so channel your inner artist and join the Henna workshop!

Language workshop (Non-European = Korean)

Tired of learning everyday European languages which are mandatory in your schooldays? Then sign up for this language workshop where we will teach you the basics of a non-European language that you will not likely encounter in a regular school curriculum!

Each of these workshops lasted 45 minutes, after which we hosted an International Dinner XL: A dinner where we had 20 different cultures / countries showing off the food of their origin. The setup was like a marketplace where they could try everything in exchange for a question token. A token they got by answering or asking a question to a participant.
