Goal of the Activity

Organizing a raising-fund campaign to support research in the field of cancer of the blood, and bring joy to children and patients who will spend their time in hospital during Easter.

Description

We partecipated to the “Suspended Egg” fundraising campaign for AIL of Siena - Grosseto ODV. The Italian Association against Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma (AIL) is a voluntary association working at national level to support patients and the dissemination of research in the field of blood diseases. The section of Siena provides support to patients at the Hematology of Siena and at the halfway house of “Bucaneve”, and funds grants for young doctors and university researchers. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is not possible to take to the streets to carry out the usual donation activity of Easter eggs. However, this did not stop the volunteer activities, indeed it led to the birth of the initiative of the “Suspended Egg”.
ESN Siena GES organized a raising-funds campaign to supports AIL. Using verse app, and with a big communication campaign done on our FB, Ig and Whatsapp groups, our international students and volunteers from our section and other Italian ESN section, could do a free donation to support research and bring a little joy to the young sick and cancer patients who are in hospital during the Easter season. The campaign was successful and lead to the donation of more than 150 chocolate eggs to the pediatric, oncologic and COVID-19 units of Siena hospital. Moreover, the other funds will be used to support research!!
