Creation of a space of dialogue for students and high-schoolers from all around Europe. Promotion of sociopolitical awareness and active citizenship. Increase in visibility and recognizability of ESN among cognizant and talented youth.
The event took place in Warsaw. The number of delegates was 270. We held 16 separate discussion panels, all of them being a precise simulation of the corresponding United Nations or European Union body. During the opening ceremony, we had a comprehensive presentation about ESN, where we presented both national and international levels, underlining all the opportunities waiting for those who decide to become our volunteers. Among our participants, 34% were international. Each panel had two Chairs, who have been selected during an Open Call. Out of 75 candidates, we selected the best 29. Moreover, some panels have been chaired by members of our section.
The panels included: UN Security Council, World Health Organization, UN Environmental Programme, Human Rights Council, UN Women, UN Economic and Social Council, Arab League, UN Office on Drugs and Crime, European Council, UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development, Future UN Security Council (committee about climate change aftermaths placed in 2049), World Bank, International Court of Justice, UN High Commission for Refugees, UN Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Council, UN Office for Outer Space Affairs. The topics were focused on promoting certain values, including social inclusion, climate change prevention, sustainable lifestyle and production, cultural exchange, social policies and gender equality. All the panels have been held in English.
