The goal of the activity was to welcome the UNITA Blended Intensive Programme participants and offer them a meaningful introduction to the city where they would spend their one-week stay. Through guided city tours, the initiative aimed to help students orient themselves, understand the cultural landscape, and discover the historical layers that shaped Turin. By presenting the city’s identity—from its roots to its contemporary character—the activity encouraged participants to connect both with the local environment and with one another from the very beginning.
As part of the UNITA Blended Intensive Programme, we organised city tours that invited students to step into Turin’s narrative. During their week in the city, participants explored its emblematic squares, elegant boulevards, and historic districts, while volunteers shared stories of the city’s evolution, from its royal past to its modern cultural vibrancy.
Beyond practical orientation, the tours offered a first encounter with Turin’s atmosphere: its architecture, traditions, cafés, and the subtle rhythm that moves through its streets. Even within a short stay, students were able to experience the city not only as a setting for their academic work, but as a place with a voice, a history, and a spirit open to newcomers.
