The goal of this activity is to provide participants with an engaging and insightful exploration of Palermo through a joint City Tour organized by ESN Palermo for ESN Catania. This experience aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the city's history, architecture, and cultural heritage while fostering connections between Erasmus students from both cities.
During the tour, participants visited Palermo’s most significant historical and cultural landmarks, gaining insights into the city's development over the centuries and the blending of diverse cultural influences. The activity encouraged interaction among students from different locations, promoting cultural exchange and a shared appreciation for Palermo’s rich history.
This activity aimed to enrich the Erasmus experience by offering an educational and immersive connection to the city, allowing students from both ESN sections to bond while discovering Palermo’s past, present, and cultural significance.
The event brought together Erasmus students from ESN Palermo and ESN Catania for an enriching City Tour of Palermo, designed to showcase the city's historical and architectural highlights. Led by an expert local guide, the participants explored some of the most iconic sites in the historic center.
The tour included visits to landmarks such as Piazza Bellini, Quattro Canti, Piazza Pretoria, the Church of Santa Caterina and its cloister, the Teatro Massimo, the Church of Martorana, and the Palermo Cathedral. Throughout the journey, the guide provided historical context, sharing stories about the Arab, Norman, and Baroque influences that have shaped the city’s unique identity.
This experience was not only educational but also an opportunity for students from both ESN sections to engage with one another, exchange perspectives, and strengthen their Erasmus network. The event concluded with a relaxed moment in one of Palermo’s picturesque squares, allowing participants to reflect on their experience and further connect with fellow students.
