The aim of the event is to introduce international students to traditional Czech Christmas traditions first-hand. They will try out some activities such as, taste traditional Christmas food and sweets. They will gain an overview of how Christmas time is spent in the Czech Republic and thus better understand the actions of the locals.
We gave international students a taste of Czech Christmas (and Advent) traditions. They had the opportunity to try traditional Czech Christmas food, like schnitzels, potato salad, "vánočka", and much more! They also had the chance to try Czech Christmas traditions firsthand – like painting their own gingerbread, cutting the apple and "sailing the nut boats" to see what the New Year might bring.
We provided them with a fun and interactive presentation about Czech Christmas and Advent traditions, superstitions, and fun facts, so that they could learn about the customs that make the holiday season so unique in the Czech Republic.
