The purpose of the 'Chritmas cards with seniors' event was primarily to add variety to the daily life of the center's seniors and to bring a smile to their lips. In addition, we wanted to show foreign students and the local community how important it is to remember elderly people and how little it takes to make them happy. We wanted to draw attention to the fact that many seniors are lonely and it is worthwhile sometimes to get out of their comfort zone and do something that will momentarily distract them from loneliness or other problems they face every day.
The event consisted of each volunteer creating Christmas cards together with one or two seniors. Since not all of the seniors were skilled with their hands, our volunteers supported them as much as possible. The results were fantastic cards that the seniors could keep for themselves, give to each other or send to loved ones. The whole event was conducted in a magical, joyful Christmas atmosphere.
