Goal of the Activity
The purpose of the event was to include students in our local traditions, as well as cultivate the Gardunha Forest with tree planting.
Description
The Chestnut route is a walk through the Chestnut Tree Forest in Gardunha. During this walk, the participants were encouraged to plant chestnut trees and help along with the European Ecological Pact which enriched the local environment. After the walk, there was a celebration in Alcongosta village with a bonfire, chestnuts, local music with Bombos de Alcongosta, and a typical drink called Jeropiga. Students were able to learn an ancient Portuguese tradition as well as share their own regarding that time of year.
