Goal of the Activity

The goal of this activity was to showcase the tourist highlights of the Netherlands. Not only by viewing but also by partaking.

Description

This trip was a day packed with typical Dutch cultural activities and sightseeing. The first stop was at the Zaanse Schans which is a replica of a typical Dutch fishing town. Here, we visited a museum about the Albert Heijn (the most famous supermarket branch in the Netherlands). We got a tour by a super enthusiastic man with a thick Dutch-English accent.  After that we got a tour at an old windmill that was still used to grind coal. We then went to Marken which is also a very small town. Here we got lunch and after that we went on a boat to Volendam. In Volendam we visited the Volendam Museum and after that we went to a cheese tasting museum and a Stroopwafel tasting museum. At both places we also got a small presentation on how the food was made. We did not see any famous Dutch singers that originate from Volendam like Jan Smit.
