During our Welcome Week, as ESN Ankara University, we aim to provide incoming Erasmus students with a deeper understanding of Ankara and our culture, and what better way to do so than by showcasing one of the city's most iconic landmarks: Atakule. As a symbol of Ankara's modernity and progress, Atakule holds significant
cultural importance, being featured in literature, art, and popular culture. Its towering presence on the Ankara skyline attracts tourists worldwide, offering breathtaking
panoramic views of the city from its observation deck. Atakule's distinctive cylindrical tower, crowned with a rotating restaurant, not only demonstrates architectural
innovation but also reflects Ankara's aspirations for development. In introducing Atakule to our incoming students, we hope to foster a deeper appreciation for
Ankara's identity, heritage, and vibrant culture.
The event was an immersive experience designed to introduce incoming Erasmus students to the rich cultural heritage of Ankara, with Atakule as a landmark point. We
started by providing background information about the significance of Atakule as a symbol of Ankara's modernity and progress, emphasizing its cultural importance and
its role in shaping the city's identity. Participants will then have the opportunity to visit Atakule, where they'll be treated to stunning panoramic views of Ankara from the
observation deck. Throughout the event, we shared interesting facts and anecdotes about Atakule, its architecture, and its place in Ankara's history. By the end of the event, participants have gained a deeper appreciation for Ankara's identity, heritage, and culture.
