Goal of the Activity

To explore İzmir’s rich cultural and historical heritage while encouraging participants to engage with local art, religion, and architecture strengthening their connection to the city and its diverse identity.

Description

The Art and Culture Day invited participants on a cultural journey through the heart of İzmir, exploring the city’s artistic, historical, and spiritual landmarks. Designed to combine education, discovery, and social interaction, the event allowed participants to experience İzmir’s vibrant identity from multiple perspectives. The day began with a meeting at Bornova Metro Station, followed by a visit to Atatürk Museum and Arkas Art Museum, where students admired local and international artworks while learning about the city’s modern cultural evolution. The trip continued to the İzmir Culture and Arts Museum and the Agora Ancient City, offering a glimpse into the layers of İzmir’s ancient past. Later, participants visited the Hisar Mosque, one of the city’s most significant religious landmarks, before ending the day with an optional visit to the Historical Elevator, where they enjoyed panoramic views of the city. Throughout the day, participants captured memorable moments, shared their impressions, and bonded over discussions about art, history, and faith. More than just sightseeing, the event became a meaningful cultural exchange deepening students’ appreciation for İzmir’s diversity and uniting them through shared discovery.
