Alice in Wonderland teaches life lessons through a story of a girl who discovers new things as she falls into the rabbit hole and encounters many different characters and situations which let her reflect on herself. To depict that, the event was made so that the people challenge themselves to think how they’ve grown ever since they’ve learnt a new language. They had a chance to discover how learning a new language changed some of their personalities or see whether learning a new language or culture helped them view the world differently.
To achieve the goals of the activity, the event was conducted in a form of different themed stations where participants could engage themselves in various language-related challenges:
Rabbit hole: with curiosity-sparking questions like "Have you encountered any surprises whilst learning a new language?"
Caterpillar’s wisdom: asking self-reflective questions, like "How has this journey affected your identity?"
Mad hatter’s tea party: encouraging creativity and self awareness, as the main activity was having a conversation without using the common words like; "No", "Like", "Very".
Through the looking glass: dealing with idioms and their meaning in specific languages.
