The aim of the event was to create a graduation ball where everyone had the opportunity to come together again and celebrate. To emphasise the international character, international songs could be sung and the Erasmus students could get a little insight into a typical standard dance by learning the slow waltz. The Erasmus students were thus able to see themselves as part of a community.
To conclude the winter semester 2023/24 with the Erasmus students, we organised our Winter Prom on 16 December 2023 in the rooms of the Catholic University Community in Cologne. The Winter Prom was intended to be an elegant and stylish evening where the Erasmus students had the opportunity to celebrate the end of their stay abroad in style. Around 20 ESNers were there to help on the day and organised an unforgettable evening for the 70 or so Erasmus students. The auditorium was transformed into a party location with the help of many flags (to emphasise the international flair), fairy lights, tablecloths and garlands and so the evening started after the admission at 7 pm with a welcome and then food, which was free for the Erasmus students and was cooked by the ESNers and warmed up on site. There was cold food (salads etc.), hot food (lasagne etc.) and dessert (cake etc.). Afterwards there was a waltz, which could be learnt through a dance lesson offered beforehand. The programme continued with karaoke, which lifted the spirits again before the party ended at half past one. During the evening, the "Couple of the night" could also be chosen, who received a prize. There was also a photographer present the whole time to capture the evening's experiences. The moderation, which consisted of two ESNers, guided the Erasmus students through the whole evening. The Erasmus students were able to celebrate the imminent end of their stay abroad that evening before many of them went home for the Christmas holidays.
