There are many reasons why it is worth discovering Santarcangelo: for its strong Romagna identity and the atmosphere of a large village punctuated by a right rhythm of life, for its architectural beauty made of noble buildings, Borghigiane houses, alleys and squares that have given it the title of City of Art, for events of international scope that animate no less than the country festivals full of scents and flavors.
In particular Carnival festival is coming this weekend so not a better occasion for us, ESN volunteers, to bring our new erasmus students to visit the village.
During the city tour every most important spots: clearly visible, in the central square Ganganelli, the great triumphal arch erected in 1777 by the citizens in honor of the fellow citizen Pope Clement XIV (Ganganelli precisely, 1705-1774). Torre del Campanone, Porta Cervese, Piazza delle Monache, Chiesa Collegiata, Pieve di San Michele, Sferisterio are all characteristic places that we visited. We encountered the Carnival Floats Parade and the we went for a nice aperitivo in a local pub.
