The aim of the “Welcome Camping” was to create a memorable experience early on in the semester, to support bonding and the creation of friendships among our new Erasmus students. By withstanding challenges like precarious weather conditions together, a team spirit emerged which was further reinforced by team challenges and games (we called it ESN Squid games), which were seen by many as one of the highlights of this trip.

Hey Internationals,
we are super excited to share that we will organize the first ever ESN Frankfurt CAMPING TRIP! 🏕
It will be the highlight of our welcome week in the beginning of September. We will prepare plenty of fun activities for you like a night walk, olympics, and much more so you can get to know each other and bond with your new friends. 🤗
Where do we go?
We will camp near Annweiler am Trifels, a lovely, picturesque German fairytale town right in the middle of Pfälzerwald, one of the largest forests in Germany. It is know for its medieval castle, where even an English king was captured once. 🏰🌳⛰
Annweiler is roughly 2,5 hours away from Frankfurt by train.
The campground has toilets and shower facilities. Also it is located right next to a sport pitch which we can also use during our stay.
When do we go?
NEW: There will be 2 groups The first one meets at 10am to take the RE70 at 10.12, the 2nd one meets at 3pm. You can choose which group you wanna take (we will post a sign up in time for all registered)
What is included in the trip?
• VRN-group ticket on Friday and Sunday - for the train to/from Annweiler am Trifels
(in case you do not have a Student card that allows you to travel in Hessen for free you need to buy a ticket Frankfurt <> Groß Rohrheim (RMV area) individually). It is important that you are punctual and travel with the group, since this ticket only works if we are all on the same time.
• 2 nights on the campground at Annweiler
• Food: Brunch + Dinner on Saturday; Breakfast + Lunch on Sunday. On Friday, we plan to go to a restaurant in the town (you pay individually)
• Drinks
Alcoholic beverages are not included!
• Tents: You will share your tent with 3 or 4 tent mates :-)
• Airbeds / comfy sleeping bag
Why should you join?
It is THE chance to make friends from all over Europe and the world. You will embark on adventure right at the start of your exchange semester. And of course it is gonna be a lot of funnnn 😍
