Weekend Excursion to Ameland Island

Kick off the year with our first weekend excursion to Ameland!

Be part of the adventure as we head to Ameland, a stunning island gem where nature and fun go hand in hand! Known for its breathtaking landscapes and surrounded by a UNESCO World Heritage Site – The Wadden Sea, Ameland offers a unique escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Imagine exploring the island’s diverse scenery on two wheels, as biking is the main mode of transportation, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of this car-free paradise.

Our journey begins on Friday morning as we depart from Groningen and take a scenic ferry ride to Ameland. Once we arrive, there is dinner planned, which will be followed by a lively beer cantus in the evening – an essential Dutch student tradition that you won’t want to miss! On Saturday morning we will have a fun treasure hunt before we hop on our bikes and head out for an adventure-packed day at Ameland Adventure. The afternoon is then yours to explore the island at your own pace–whether you want to relax on the beach, visit the iconic Bornrif Lighthouse, or enjoy the view at the Oerd which is a viewpoint on a beautiful nature reserve. As the sun sets, the excitement continues with a themed party and a special secret activity designed to help you integrate into Dutch culture. It’s the perfect way to end a day full of new experiences and unforgettable memories!

We will leave on Friday at around 10:00 from the train station. Tickets are €115, including transportation, accommodation, meals, drinks, and all activities.
