Goal of the Activity

To inspire curiosity about astronomy and connect participants with the wonders of the universe through an engaging and educational stargazing experience at the historic Ole Rømer Observatory.

Description

Experience the magic of the cosmos at the Ole Rømer Observatory, where stars, planets, and moons come to life through Denmark’s largest telescope. Join us for an evening of discovery as an expert guide introduces you to the basics of astronomy, the observatory’s rich history, and the incredible legacy of Ole Rømer, the Danish astronomer who first measured the speed of light in 1676.

The program begins at 20:15 outside the observatory in Marselisborg. From 20:30-22:00, you’ll explore the moon’s craters, gaze into the Andromeda galaxy, and even spot binary stars and distant planets—weather permitting. If the skies are cloudy, enjoy an inspiring tour of the galaxy through captivating storytelling and stunning imagery.

Make sure to dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes, as the observatory can get cold, and outdoor exploration may be part of the experience. You’re welcome to bring or purchase a warm drink (no food allowed).

Step into the universe and explore the skies while learning about the observatory, recently renovated to honor Ole Rømer’s contributions to science. Don’t miss this chance to connect with the stars! ✨🌌🔭
