Goal of the Activity

The main goal of this activity was to help international students discover and experience the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Tuscany. In particular, we wanted them to get to know the hidden treasures of our culture, history and tradition, and in particular our crown jewel: the art of oil and wine brewing. To do so, we visited three of the most wonderful hamlets in Tuscany: Volterra, San Gimignano and Certaldo.

Description

For Tour dei Borghi - Trip to Volterra, San Gimignano and Certaldo we spent a day travelling in Tuscany: we visited three hidden gems of our region, and we organised a city tour in each one of them. At the end of the tour, we gave the students a guide of the hamlet, in which we had included not only historical and fun facts, but also a map of the place. The students particularly seemed to like this little souvenir from us, as they could wander around the village on their own for some time before the next departure. In the last past of our trip, we visited Certaldo and we organized a wine tasting of a typical tuscanian wine: these village, like almost every other in Tuscany, is especially well-known for the presence of vineyards and the wine brewing.
