The main goal of the activity is to promote student mobility and the mobility opportunities that are available for the youth. This goal was facilitated by bringing together a multiple of local youth organisations that operate in the field of international mobility, as well as local student volunteer organisations that have their own mobility academic programs. Another main tenet of the event was to promote the value of volunteering and promote as well volunteer recognition. Another goal of the event was to bring together local students with international exchange students. The motivation and the central goal behind this idea was the celebration of the 10 years anniversary of ESN Thessaloniki, which is the cooperation between the three sections of Thessaloniki (ESN AUTH, ESN UO Thessaloniki and ESN IHU), as well as the celebration of the nomination of Thessaloniki as the Erasmus destination of the year during the Erasmus Generation Meeting in Porto.
The event took place at the City Hall of Thessaloniki. It event started with a serious of discussion panels and interactive sessions on the topic of mobility, volunteering and volunteer recognition. The sessions where facilitated by representatives of ESN Thessaloniki, ESN Greece, Europe Direct, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, as well as other local youth organisations. After the discussions, a mobility fair took place where a multitude of local student volunteer organisations as well as local youth organisations, had the opportunity to inform the public about their function and the mobility opportunities that are available. The event ended with an international dinner where the incoming Erasmus students had the opportunity to cook and bring their traditional dishes and delicacies. During the international dinner the local students had the opportunity to interact with international students promoting thus intercultural communication and integration. The international dinner was accompanied by a concert, where music gave a festive spirit to the event.
