This activity was a part of the Social Inclusion Days - Fall 2020, which provides opportunities for international students to expand their knowledge on several topics regarding social inclusion. We believe that this activity gives them a learning experience - particularly, in this activity, we believe that we can get them more informed regarding disabilities. As a result, we are forming respectful citizens who know how to act towards someone with a disability, offer help and treat them as equal.
In the 1st day of this activity, we presented some facts regarding disabilities, e.g. "10% of the world’s population live with a disability.".
In the 2nd day of this activity, we presented some ways of being supportive towards people with disabilities, e.g. making eye contact, getting the terms correct, first asking before giving help. We also shared information about inspirational people with disabilities, e.g. Stephen Hawking who was diagnosed with ALS or Adam Levine who was diagnosed with ADHD.
