This week had been previously featured physical events, but due to the pandemic, we had to reorganise it. Our main goal was to create interactive online content that could be both entertaining and didactic, and that focused on simple sustainable tips and tricks that could be done by everyone.
The different activities planned intended to:
- show different tips and tricks that could make student life away from home more sustainable;
- teach a vegan version of a well-known Portuguese recipe;
- encourage the participants to upcycle objects that would otherwise go to waste, and turn them into useful things like a recycling bin.
Throughout the week, different activities were planned: everyday, we would share sustainable tips on Instagram. The first activity shared was the 'Save Water Challenge', which intended to alert participants to the problem of wasting water while, for example, washing their hands.
The second activity was called 'Sustainably Delicious', where we shared a Veggie Hash recipe in collaboration with a Portuguese website 'Cocoon Cooks'. This is a veganised 'Bacalhau à Brás' recipe, a typical Portuguese dish beloved by many.
The final activity was a video of green crafts. We shared a few simple DIYs (face masks, a recycling bin, a composting bin) that participants could make at home by upcycling everyday objects such as water bottles, plastic bags, sugar and coffee grind.
