Celebrate St. Martin's Day with us! You don't know what that is? Then continue reading:
St. Martin of Tours, today known as patron saint of beggars, travelers and refugees - back then a Roman soldier, shared his coat with a beggar on a cold winter night. Later he became a monk and from that day on he helped the poor and weak people. At his funeral on November 11 in 397, people paraded through the alleys with torches and lanterns and they still do so today. The lantern procession starts at 5pm.
Keep in mind: The festivities today are attended mostly by children and their parents. It is nice to participate and get to know potentially foreign tradition nevertheless. But we ask you to be considerate about your behaviour.
