Goal of the Activity

- Mark International Volunteering Day;

- Start a collaboration with HuBB - Humans Before Borders to raise awareness of our international students to migration and refugee topics;

- Develop a new concept of event that joins non-formal education, informal education and socialisation;

- Promote a local dialogue to bring the international students in touch with locals and other organisations in the city.

Description

On December 5th, to celebrate the International Volunteering Day we teamed up with another amazing volunteer organisation, HuBB - Humans Before Borders (a platform for action against inhumane and illegal treatment of migrants and refugees), to have an informal and open dialogue about Human Rights and refugees with locals and internationals, shaped as a pub quiz, to make it more gun and engaging.

The event was held at ESPIGA, a creative community bar/gallery, known for its events for travellers and artists to promote the participation of locals, as this event was designed as a local dialogue, with registrations open to the public. Everyone was invited to exchange views with people from diverse backgrounds by creating teams to answer questions about Human Rights and refugees, with further infos being given by HuBB. There were prizes for the winning team. Sustainability was ensured by the venue, as they serve fresh food cooked with local produce and bulk drinks in reusable glasses.
