Arcigay "Alan Turing" is a non-profit Association of Social Promotion, operating in the province of Rimini since 1994. It is a lesbian and gay organization that is committed to defending and promoting civil rights and individual freedoms.
Arcigay carries out various cultural and political social activities, offering itself as a point of reference for the community, for institutions and organizations sensitive to LGBT issues (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans).
The Association is used to organize different kind of fun events and among them there's the "Queer in Town", a karaoke night open to the entire LGBTQIA+ Community. ESN Rimini wanted to participate to this event in order to raise awareness about the local queer community and create a safe and playful environment where every erasmus or international students could feel included and valued.
Esners and Erasmus went together to a local bar where the event took place and had fun all together during the evening. We also listened to a short description of the last project of the Association which was a collection of signatures in order to name a street in Rimini after Monica Romano, the first transgender woman who entered politics in Italy. After that a volunteer of Arcigay started collecting signatures and erasmus students showed their interest. Then the karaoke officially started and we all had a great time.
