Goal of the Activity

Our goal was to inform Slovak students at the Secondary Engineering School in Žilina (and multiple other schools as well) about the opportunity of Erasmus+ mobility. The secondary goal was to encourage them to either volunteer as a member of ESN or participate in this mobility.

Description

During the Social Impact Days, which took place this year between November 20th and December 3rd, we, as members of ESN, visited several secondary schools in Žilina.

We intended to present the ESN organization to high school students, tell them about the Erasmus+ mobility, and also introduce them to some foreign students who told them about their country, culture, and the Erasmus experience.

We started the presentation with facts about Erasmus+, the possibilities that this program offers, and also the reasons why they should try it when in university. We showed them how many foreign schools they can choose from at the individual faculties of the University of Žilina. We supplemented the presentation with our own experiences from the Erasmus stay.

Since all of us completed the mobility and had a great experience and strong memories from it, it was an honor to share these experiences with other students who still have a chance to experience something similar. We think that every student should be sufficiently informed about this great opportunity offered by Erasmus+ and no one should think that they can't do it, that they can't afford it, or simply that it's not an opportunity that's worth it.

Subsequently, we presented to the students the student organization ESN, which focuses on the support and integration of students from the Erasmus+ program. We informed them about the possibilities of participation in events at the national and international levels. We showed them several photos and videos from such events. Since some of us participated in the international event Spree Break in Berlin this semester, we could tell them fresh experiences and impressions. We also explained to the students what it means to be a volunteer at ESN and what activities we organize weekly for foreign students.

Since ESN helps students integrate into a new environment and at the same time enables building new friendships with people from all over the world, we decided to invite foreign students who are currently studying at the University of Žilina to the presentation. They told high school students many interesting facts about their country, shared with them their own experiences from their study stay in Žilina, and motivated everyone to use Erasmus+.
