The purpose of the activity was to familiarize foreign students with a region of Poland new to them - the Pieniny Mountains. The trip included various activities that enabled them to do so.
In order to familiarize tour participants with the Pieniny area, we have selected three attractions that best capture the spirit of the region. First we went for a walk on Lake CzorsztyĆskie to admire the Dunajec Castle in Niedzica, shrouded in legends, and a walk through the Niedzica Dam, which is extremely important for the region. Then we went on a rafting trip down the Dunajec River Gorge, led by Pieniny rafters, this tradition dates back to the first half of the 19th century. During the rafting trip, the rafters introduce us to the history of rafting, describe the landscapes that pass by and the legends associated with them. The way rafting is conducted is very distinctive and unique, to become a raftsman you have to come from one of the Pieniny villages and finish a dedicated school for this profession. After exiting the rafts, participants had a chance for their own exploration of the capital of the Pieniny Mountains - Szczawnica. Then we went on a hike through the Homole Gorge. A magnificent view of the surrounding mountains, illuminated by the setting sun, awaited us at the top.
