Goal of the Activity

The goal of our events is to help students get to know the city and it's surroundings.

Also we want to bring them together to find new friends and get to know other cultures, for this we organize different events like parties, trips, sports events and many more.

Description

We published the event with this description:

Die Fledermaus (The Bat) is the most famous operetta ever written. Operetta is a form of light-hearted opera that includes spoken dialogue, songs, and dances, and therefore often has the reputation of being just popular entertainment, but Die Fledermaus has come to be regarded as a work of high artistry suitable for the world’s greatest opera houses. It was composed in 1874 by Johann Strauss II (the author of many famous waltzes such as "The Blue Danube" and largely responsible for the popularity of the waltz in 19th century Vienna), and is being shown in a new production at the Gärtnerplatztheater this season.

In German without surtitles; we therefore recommend you to read the plot before the event. More information here. Class A seats for 88€ 10€.

About the operetta

On New Year’s Eve, Eisenstein is being forced to go to jail for punching a police officer, however decides to evade jail for one night so that he can go to Prince Orlofsky’s lavish party. Eisenstein wants to go with his friend Falke, so he tells his wife, Rosalinde, that he is heading off to jail. Meanwhile, Rosalinde knows that Eisenstein is lying, and follows him, in disguise as a Hungarian countess to the ball. Adele, their maid, also feigns an excuse to be released from work that night so that she can also go to the ball, disguised as a Russian actress named Olga. After many mistaken identities, Eisenstein attempts to seduce his own wife without knowing. Much frivolity, and many festivities behind them, the great farce ends up with a happy ending for all.
