The purpose of the activity was to organize an online night, where Erasmus students would participate in various games (mainly board games - performed by discord bots) and would know more information about Thessaloniki, the destination where they decided to spend their Erasmus.
To handle the event, a new discord server was created and different discord bots were added for role assignment, management, channels and automation of various games. The detailed list of discord bots used is listed below:
• Elemental: role, channel and permissions management bot.
• Zira: easy role assignment by clicking on emoji
• Pollmaster: bot for conducting voting
• Rythm: music
• EPIC RPG: rpg game with text channel commands
• Cardboard against Humanity: bot for cards against humanity
• UnoBot: bot for UNO
• GamesROB: bot with various games, such as naval battle, gallows, trill etc.
• Trivia: bot for knowledge game
In addition to the bots, the appropriate communication channels were created, with appropriate categorization.
The event would start by gathering all the people in a voice channel, from where with a share screen they would watch and participate in a kahoot about Thessaloniki. In this way they would become familiar with the operation of the server and would receive the necessary information about the structure of the server and how they could play the various games.
Then we would leave them free to choose the game they would like to play and enter the appropriate channels to set up tables and get started. Beyond that, our role would be purely supervisory.
In the end, very few people participated in the event (in the end we stayed with 6 people and played cards against humanity).
Many people (about 15) came in and while there were clear instructions to join our voice channel, they left.
