The main goal of the activity was improving our knowledge in the forest ecosystem, while the second goal was to get to know more about mushrooms and the environment they grow in.
The organizers and international students went to a forest in the province of Trento and with the help of a mycologist they had the opportunity to collect mushrooms, both poisonous and edible. The specialist, who knows the area well, led people on a walk in the forest, during which the participants had the opportunity to learn something about the forest ecosystem and the behaviours to avoid when in nature. In addition to discovering how to foster the growth of mushrooms and how to recognize a good mushroom from a poisonous one, we were able to adopt environmentally friendly behaviour towards the forest in which we were, having lunch together in a sustainable way without leaving waste.
Back in Trento, we shared the edible mushrooms among all participants.
