Goal of the Activity

The main purpose of the Multilignual Poetry Night was to share the traditional poems of each country in their native language and then translate them into English. It was an opportunity to be able to approach new languages, but also to know poems that involved all participants for the topics covered. Listening to the poems in the mother tongues created an intercultural and engaging atmosphere that moved all participants and even members of the local community who took part in the event. It was not a competition, but an evening of linguistic and cultural exchange.

Description

Each participant to book the reading of their poem had to choose a poem in their native language and had to send it to the organizers in advance, also providing the English translation. There was no limit to the choice of poems, so it was given free space to the sensitivity of each. During the evening everyone read their poetry in their mother tongue from the stage of the bar and then in English.

It was possible to read an original text or from a known poet. Registrations were collected from 19 different languages, for a total of 21 people on stage. We have prepared a document with the poems in the original language and the English translation.
