We moved online one of our most successful activities, the Movie Night. As with the physical Movie Night we manage to get students to know ourselves and each other making boundaries, we pursued the objective to keep with this goal during the pandemics, especially for the new students come for the second semester.
As in the physical Movie Night, we kept broadcasting the movie in Italian with English subtitles to get international students used to hear Italian. Being unable to start with the usual introduction and to finish with a brief discussion we usually do in person, this time we fostered an online live commenting to the movie, explaining the meaning of the hardest words pronounced in dialect
People who attended the activity proved to be interested on the topic of the movie, mainly because it appears to be a variation of the stereotype Italy-Mafia, and this caught their attention. The ones who understood better Italian showed interest for the Roman dialect and asked for more info, some of them started to watch the related tv series.
