Goal of the Activity

The goal of our events is to help students get to know the city and it's surroundings.

Also we want to bring them together to find new friends and get to know other cultures, for this we organize different events like parties, trips, sports events and many more.

Description

We published the event with this description:

Passages

Passages mark transitions from one place to the next. They can be entered from two opposite sides and can take on different meanings. In the three-part ballet evening Passages, David Dawson, Marco Goecke and Alexei Ratmansky develop works in which very different facets of the transition can be seen: Colors of emotional heart states in David Dawson's piece (Affairs of the Heart), the development of ambiguous, dissonant and exploratory body melodies in Marco Goecke's (Sweet Bones'Melody), and the dissolving and forming of images in Alexei Ratmansky's (Pictures at an Exhibition).

Class 2/3 seats. A production of the Bavarian State Ballet. More information can be found here. After the event, we might have food and drinks at a nearby establishment.

About the ballet

In Affairs of the Heart, David Dawson describes an emotional journey in the course of which manifold shades of human existence emerge. Dawson's new creation at the Bayerisches Staatsballett is set to the concerto of the same name for violin and strings music by Marjan Mozetich.

Transitory moments are also thematised in Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, especially in the musical "promenades" evoked by the composition. In 2014, Alexei Ratmansky created a choreography that is sensitively interwoven with the character of the musical numbers, sometimes solemnly brilliant, sometimes heavily melancholic and then again cheerful, airy and playful. The choreographic sequence as well as the stage and costumes are inspired by a colour study by Wassily Kandinsky. This study from 1913 belongs to the collection of the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich. Ratmansky´s Pictures at an Exhibition represents an artistic response to the work of the famous painter.

In his new creation Sweet Bones´Melody for the Bayerisches Staatsballett, Marco Goecke accentuates different stages within a developmental process and shapes the connections in between. The composer Unsuk Chin arranges her orchestral work Mannequin from 2015 especially for the Bayerisches Staatsorchester.
