The goal of this activity is to give a second life to used and already read books. Instead of keeping them on a shelf, we decided to donate them to share our passion for reading.
On the occasion of World Book Day, we organized a book hunt for the Venetian "calli" (streets). Each participant had to pack a book that she/he had already read, therefore second-hand, with recycled material. The book could be in any language. Once the book was packaged, the participant wrote a note with a dedication, his name and his origin. Subsequently, the book was hidden in a mysterious and secret place. All event attendees had been added to a Whatsapp group. On the day of the event, each participant provided directions for another participant to find the hidden book. Once the book was found, a selfie was taken to witness the treasure found!
The event has a cultural background, but mainly aims at the reuse of materials, in line with the quiz made during Earth Day on April 22, which had as its theme the recycling and reuse of paper and in line with the video made during the World Book Day of 23 April, in which we did an interview with the most famous bookshop in Venice, the Acqua Alta bookshop.
* The event was organized through the Whatsapp group and the participants found the books alone or in pairs to comply with the anti-Covid regulations.
