Provide introductory language lessons to allow participants to understand the basic concepts of a new foreign language and get an insight into new cultures through language learning.
Participants received an introductory lesson in one of three offered languages: Mandarin, Portuguese or Vietnamese. All three lessons were provided by a native speaker of the respective language, thus allowing to not only facilitate language learning but also introduce unique cultural aspects linked to language.
The activity was organised in collaboration with Speak, a social start-up aiming to connect refugees, migrants and locals through language and cultural exchange. Participants learned about volunteering opportunities at Speak and subsequently got an impression of the voluntary work by receiving language lessons from Speak's language buddies.
