Erasmus students who came to Akdeniz university found a chance to recognize Turkish cuisine with the help of Lahmacun workshop. There are 2 different main goals of this workshop. First, Erasmus students had the opportunity to get to know Turkish cuisine closely. Second, it was their first Lahmacun cooking experience. Hence, they used their cooking skills with this workshop.
As all you know, food brings people together. Thats the reason why as an ESN Akdeniz we thought that organized a Turkish cuisine workshop could be useful for showing Turkish culture. So, we chose Lahmacun for this workshop. Lahmacun is a round, thin piece of dough topped with minced meat (most commonly beef or lamb), minced vegetables and herbs including onions, garlic, tomatoes, red peppers, and parsley, flavored with spices such as chili pepper, paprika, then baked. Lahmacun is often wrapped around vegetables, including pickles, tomatoes, peppers, onions, lettuce, parsley, and roasted eggplant. Due to its shape and superficial similarity it is sometimes described as Turkish pizza. However, unlike pizza, lahmacun is not usually prepared with cheese and the crust is thinner.
