Goal of the Activity

This activity aimed to demonstrate international students skills and abilities in the area of visual and performing arts, while also creating an opportunity to explore works that reflect diverse cultures and perspectives. Furthermore, it sought to involve international students with the local community and to demonstrate that doing a mobility period, whether under Erasmus+ or other programs, helps and enhances the development of students skills.

This initiative was an excellent way to showcase how art can bring people worldwide together.

Description

This activity had 3 main phases: submission period, the opening ceremony and the exhibition.

The submission period started on the 12th of November until the 25th of November. Students could submit any form of art they had created, whether it was just one piece or several. Art could range from a painting, music, a poem, a sculpture or a dance performance video - any kind of art was accepted.

After the submissions, every piece submitted was evaluated and the students informed it their art would be at the exhibition or not.

To guarantee that the exhibition would be accessible to the local community and next to students universities and hubs, ESN Lisboa made a partnership with Study in Lisbon and Câmara Municipal de Lisboa to use their atrium central building in Campo Grande, an area where a lot of faculties are present.

On the 2nd of December, the opening ceremony for the exhibition was held, starting with a few speeches, followed by a dance performance made by an international student and ending with speeches from the artists and a short tour of the pieces on display. The ceremony was attended by several people, including the rector of the University of Lisbon, officials from the Lisbon City Council, representatives from ESN Lisboa, the President of Associação Académica de Lisboa, locals and the artists.

After the opening ceremony the exhibition was open to the public until the 3rd of January.

In total we had more than 50 pieces of art on display, most of them being photographs or paintings and including a sculpture.
