This activity promoted the interaction of international students with Portugal's highest mountain: Serra da Estrela. This trip allowed them to hike along set paths in the mountain, while also discovering its most iconic sites and most important places.
During this trip, students were guided by expert guides along trails in the mountain, and had the opportunity to visit the most important sites of Serra da Estrela, which is a National World Heritage Geopark. The guides also taught them about conservation of this environment, about its specific flora and fauna, and raised awareness to the importance of preserving these incredible landscapes.
After this trip, the students became more appreciative of Portugal's incredibly varied landscape, and most expressed interest in getting involved in environmental conservation and sustainability.
