Romania
participants
The main goal of the activity was to bring awareness into the local and international community, represented by the Erasmus students, on topics such as racism and xenophobia. Considering that in Romania we often encounter situations of discrimination based on race and nationality, we believe that it is important to address these topics and educate people on them. As part of the EU and ESN we stand for the principles of democracy, where we can live in a peaceful and educated society that accepts and includes all kinds of people regardless of their differences.
The activity was organised simultaneously in the cities of Brașov and Timișoara. The structure of the sessions was similar: there were 3 sessions of 90' - 120' each and 2 coffee breaks. The participants also received a sticker and a brochure with useful information on the topics they learned about. In order to engage the local community more, we also collaborated with other NGOs. For instance, ESN Brasov collaborated with Innovation Education Lab, an NGO located in Brasov that supports young people and adults develop on a personal and professional level through engaging activities. They helped by providing some useful materials and logistics, as well as by hosting the event. As for ESN Timișoara, they collaborated with The West University of Timisoara in regards to the location for the event, and with LOGS (a grass-root organisation that promotes the integration of immigrants within the community, fights against human trafficking and tries to educate people to overcome their social differences), that provided them with useful materials and information regarding the minorities in Timisoara.
Regarding the promotion of the activities, we decided to do it on our social media pages such as Instagram and Facebook, but also on our internal communication channels. Initially we wanted to include ads, so that we would reach a greater number, but unfortunately, the social media platforms did not allow us to do so, therefore the promotion was solely organic. The final reach for the posts we made was between 450-900. In the posts we also included a registration form and the total number of people who registered was 44. At the event however we had only 30 participants.
