The event aimed to introduce Erasmus students to the cultural and spiritual significance of Iftar while providing a space for intercultural exchange and connection. By sharing a meal together, participants not only gained insight into local traditions but also built friendships and strengthened their sense of belonging in İzmir. The event promoted inclusivity, respect, and cultural appreciation, making it a meaningful experience for everyone involved.
The event brought Erasmus students together for a traditional Iftar meal, offering them the opportunity to experience an important aspect of Turkish and Islamic culture. Hosted at a local restaurant, the evening began with a brief introduction to the significance of Ramadan and the traditions surrounding Iftar. As the call to prayer marked the time to break the fast, students enjoyed a spread of traditional dishes such as dates, soups, pide, meats, desserts like güllaç, and Turkish tea. The gathering fostered a sense of community, allowing students from different backgrounds to share in the experience, learn about each other's cultures, and engage in meaningful conversations.
