Goal of the Activity

The main aim of the Halloween Party SeCo was to strengthen inter-sectional cooperation within the ESN Network while creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive social environment for international, exchange, and local students. The initiative was designedtocombine organisational capacity, volunteer engagement, and creative ideas frommultiple sections in order to deliver a high-quality event that reflected ESN’s values of openness, diversity, and cooperation. By working together on a shared project, the participating sections aimed to reinforce network spirit, improve internal communication, and demonstrate the practical benefits of collaborative action. One of the primary objectives of the initiative was to enhance communication and coordinationbetween ESN sections. This objective focused on establishing transparent decision-makingprocesses, encouraging regular interaction among team members, and promoting joint problem- solving. Through structured meetings, shared digital tools, and collaborative planning, the initiative aimed to create a working environment based on trust and accountability. This objective was directly connected to the long-term goal of building sustainable cooperationmodels that could be applied to future projects. Another key objective was to create an inclusive and welcoming social space for international and exchange students. Many incoming students face challenges related to social integration, cultural adjustment, and language barriers. The Halloween Party SeCo aimed to address thesechallenges by providing a relaxed and friendly environment where students could interact freely, build friendships, and feel supported. Activities and volunteer engagement were designedtoencourage participation from students with diverse backgrounds and experiences, ensuringequal access and comfort for all participants. Promoting intercultural understanding and cultural exchange was also a central objective of theinitiative. The Halloween theme was used as a creative and interactive platformthat encouragedstudents to express cultural traditions, personal identities, and artistic ideas. By bringing togetherparticipants from different countries and academic institutions, the event created opportunitiesfor informal learning, mutual respect, and cross-cultural dialogue. This objective directlysupported ESN’s mission of enriching society through international students. In addition, the initiative aimed to strengthen volunteer networks and develop organisational skills among ESN members. By working in mixed teams across sections, volunteers gainedpractical experience in project management, leadership, communication, and teamwork. This objective focused on long-term capacity building within the network by preparing volunteers for more complex responsibilities in future initiatives. The shared workload and collaborative structure also helped prevent burnout and increased motivation among teammembers. The planned effects of the initiative included increased student engagement, improved inter- sectional relationships, enhanced visibility of cooperation within the ESN Network, and strongerorganisational capacity. In the short term, the initiative aimed to deliver a successful and well- organised event that met participants’ expectations. In the long term, it sought to establishafoundation for continuous collaboration, knowledge sharing, and joint innovation. By achievingthese objectives, the Halloween Party SeCo contributed not only to a memorable student experience but also to the sustainable development of inter-sectional cooperation within ESN.

Description

The Halloween Party SeCo was organized as a joint social and cultural initiative in cooperationwith multiple ESN sections from different universities, with the aim of strengthening inter- sectional collaboration and creating a high-quality, inclusive event for international and exchange students. This cooperation was not entirely new, as the participating sections hadpreviously interacted through network meetings, joint training, and smaller collaborative activities. However, the Halloween Party represented one of the most structured and comprehensive collaborations between these sections, as it required long-termplanning, intensive coordination, and shared responsibility across all stages of the project. The cooperationformally began several months before the event, when representatives from the sections initiateddiscussions about organizing a large-scale joint social activity. Through online meetings andinformal communication, the idea of a Halloween-themed event was developed and agreeduponas a suitable concept that would attract wide student participation. In the early stages, the sections focused on establishing a common vision and defining clear rolesand expectations. A coordination team was formed, consisting of representatives fromeachparticipating section, to ensure equal involvement in decision-making. Over time, the cooperation evolved into a structured partnership based on mutual trust, transparency, andcontinuous communication. Regular meetings were organized to discuss progress, distributetasks, and address emerging challenges. Shared online platforms were used to coordinate documents, time lines, and promotional materials, which further strengthened collaborationandaccountability. Responsibilities were distributed according to each section’s strengths andresources, allowing all partners to contribute meaningfully to the initiative. As the planning process advanced, the cooperation became more dynamic and efficient. Teammembers developed a deeper understanding of each others working styles, organizational cultures, and operational capacities. This improved coordination and reduced misunderstandings, enabling faster and more effective decision-making. Challenges such as scheduling conflicts, logistical limitations, and resource management were addressed collaboratively, reinforcingthesense of shared ownership and responsibility. The positive working atmosphere encouragedvolunteers to actively contribute ideas and solutions, further enriching the quality of the initiative. The decision to maintain and strengthen this cooperation was based on its proven effectivenessand positive impact. The collaborative approach allowed the sections to combine their networks, volunteer capacity, and organizational experience, resulting in a larger and more impact event than any section could have organized independently. In addition, the cooperation enhancedprofessional development among volunteers by exposing them to diverse working methods andleadership practices. The successful implementation of the Halloween Party SeCo demonstratedthe long-term value of inter-sectional partnerships, motivating the sections to continue workingtogether on future initiatives. Over time, this cooperation has evolved from occasional collaboration into a sustainable partnership model that promotes shared learning, mutual support, and collective growth within the ESN Network.
