Goal of the Activity

The main idea behind this event is simple: we want to bring people together through sport—no pressure, no experience needed, just a good time with new faces. By introducing something like Ultimate Frisbee, which most people haven’t tried before, we’re giving everyone a chance to step out of their comfort zone and try something fun and different.

It’s also about encouraging a healthy lifestyle in a way that doesn’t feel like a chore. You don’t need to be an athlete to join; this is all about movement, laughter, and learning something new in a relaxed environment. Plus, having real players from the local team there to guide everyone makes it feel less intimidating and more like being welcomed into a new group.

Another important goal is helping students—especially international ones—connect with the local community. Partnering with CUS Fitness is a great way to introduce people to opportunities they might not know about. It shows them that L’Aquila has more to offer outside of academics: sports, connections, and experiences.

And lastly, we kept the group small on purpose. With only ten spots, it’s easier for everyone to talk, participate, and actually get to know each other. It’s not just about the game—it’s about creating little moments that turn strangers into friends.

Description

The evening began with participants arriving gradually at the football field of CUS Fitness L’Aquila. Some already knew each other, while others were meeting for the first time. The atmosphere was casual but curious—many were international students, interested in discovering a new sport and connecting with local players.

Once everyone had gathered, the group was welcomed by a few athletes from the local frisbee team. They led a short stretching session to warm up and ease everyone into the activity. This moment also allowed for small conversations to start, with local and international participants beginning to interact naturally.

After the warm-up, the group was divided into teams, and three short matches were played. The rules were explained clearly and simply, making it easy even for beginners to get involved. As the games progressed, the interaction between players grew more dynamic, with locals guiding and encouraging those who were new to the sport.

Between games, there was a short break. Participants gathered on the sidelines to catch their breath and share snacks provided by the organizers. It was a relaxed moment where people exchanged impressions of the game and got to know each other better, often switching between languages and stories.

At the end of the session, the organizers thanked everyone for participating and shared a few words about the potential for similar events in the future. The initiative was well received, showing how sports—even something as simple as a frisbee match—can create meaningful connections across cultures.
