The goal of the activity was to embrace polish culture by celebrating first day of spring, which is significant for Poles for many reasons staring with saying goodbye to the winter. We wanted to showcase the importance of changing seasons in Poland, considering that our country's change from winter to spring is the most important one through all of them. We wanted to teach our erasmus students about making Marzanna, paper flowers and traditions coming along with welcoming spring.
The whole activity was based on four stations. The first one could tell one's the name of their one true love, then we could tell one's future with cards. The last two were based on diy: we were making paper flowers and tiny Marzanna's with recyclable and paper materials only. While making the flowers and dolls we taught the students about the importance of the First Day of Spring through telling stories from our childhood when we used to make big Marzannas and saying goodbye to the winter by symbolically throwing them in the pond - of course we would retrive them later :). The whole experience could bring students once again to their childhood and for one moment they could forget about their exams and studies. We wanted to combine: culture, diy projects and strengthening the bounds with our foreign students.
